Dremo Reveals Why He Left Davido Music Worldwide

Nigerian rapper Dremo has opened up on the reasons behind his departure from Davido Music Worldwide, stating that the label’s management placed greater focus on its founder, Davido, than on other artists.

The rapper made the disclosure during a recent interview with Echo Room, where he reflected on his time at the label and the challenges he faced while trying to build his career.

According to Dremo, the structure of the label at the time made it difficult for other artistes to thrive, as most attention and resources were directed toward Davido.

“They focus only on Davido,” he said, adding that the situation affected collaboration and growth among artists signed to the label.

He explained that he did not collaborate with fellow label mate Idowest, noting that each artist was focused on surviving within the competitive music industry.

“I didn’t collaborate with Idowest who was my label mate and fellow rapper because at that time we were all striving to stay afloat in the music industry. Even DMW as a whole didn’t collaborated much, we never had a record label album. The management focused only on Davido,” he said.

Dremo further stated that the label did not meet his expectations, particularly in terms of financial support and career advancement.

“The label didn’t give me money. It was like a platform. I didn’t get what I wanted from the label,” he said.

He added that his experience with the label influenced his decision to remain independent, allowing him to have greater control over his music and career direction.
