The management of popular Nigerian dancer and entertainer, Iweh Pascal Odinaka, professionally known as Poco Lee, has broken its silence regarding the sexual assault case involving him in the United Kingdom, dismissing online claims of drink-spiking.
In an official statement released on Tuesday, August 25, the dancer’s management confirmed that the matter is currently before a UK court and urged members of the public to allow the judicial process to run its course.
The management cautioned against treating the allegations as established facts, emphasizing that the entertainer has not been convicted of any crime.
The statement noted, “Allegations are not evidence of guilt, and no conclusions should be drawn until the matter has been heard and determined through the appropriate legal process,”.
Addressing reports circulating across social media platforms regarding alleged drink-spiking, the team clarified that such claims do not form part of the charges currently before the court.
The management added, “We ask the public and media to desist from introducing details that are not part of the actual case, as doing so only fuels misinformation and causes unfair prejudice to all parties involved,”.
Reports of the dancer’s arrest in the UK surfaced on August 19, linking his detention to allegations of sexual assault. At the time of the reports, specific details concerning the case, including the identity of the complainant and the circumstances surrounding the incident, had not been made public by British authorities.
Following the reports, a Texas-based Nigerian rapper, Ms Jorji, made separate allegations in videos shared online, claiming that the entertainer attempted to sexually assault her and her girlfriend about two years ago during a visit to his residence in Dallas. However, her claims have not been independently verified by any law enforcement agency or court, and no connection has been established between her allegations and the ongoing proceedings in the UK.
Poco Lee rose to national prominence in 2018 after featuring in Zlatan Ibile’s “Zanku (Legwork)” music video and has since established himself as a prominent dancer and entertainer, collaborating with leading artistes including Davido, Burna Boy, Olamide, and Naira Marley.
His management stated that further updates on the matter will be communicated through official channels, while appealing to the public to exercise patience and restraint as the legal process continues.
