United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials have arrested a Nigerian national, Etinosa Osahon, in Los Angeles over criminal allegations involving theft and fraud. The immigration agency confirmed the development, stating that the 49-year-old suspect is currently in federal custody awaiting the conclusion of his removal proceedings. According to official records released by the authorities, the individual has a documented history of criminal offences, including mail theft, possession of stolen mail, bank fraud, and aggravated identity theft.
The arrest is part of a broader, intensified crackdown by American authorities targeting foreign citizens with criminal records within the country. This enforcement action follows a similar incident in April, where another Nigerian national, Olatunde Olusanjo, was detained by immigration officials over alleged sexual offences. Security observers note that the tightening of immigration controls and enforcement measures has continued to affect several foreign nationals, including those from Nigeria, under stricter administrative guidelines.
