The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has officially announced the release of the first batch of results for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, providing a clear path for candidates who participated in the initial phase of the exercise to access their scores. The board confirmed on Friday night that the results currently available are for candidates who sat for the examination on Thursday, April 16. In a statement issued to guide candidates through the process, the examination body explained that the results have been made accessible through a mobile platform to ensure ease of access for students across the country.
According to the board's spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, candidates who wish to verify their performance are required to use the mobile phone number that was uniquely linked to their registration profile. The process involves sending a specific keyword, UTMERESULT, as a text message to the official shortcode 55019. Candidates are advised to ensure they have a minimum airtime balance of 50 Naira on their mobile lines to facilitate the successful delivery of the request and the subsequent receipt of their scores. The board noted that once the message is sent, a response containing the candidate's scores for the various subjects taken will be delivered to the same mobile device.
While candidates can now view their scores, the board clarified that this initial release is for viewing purposes only and that the printing of official result slips has not yet been activated on its website. Benjamin stated that the portal for printing formal slips would be enabled at a later date, which will be communicated to the public in due course. The board further cautioned candidates against falling prey to fraudulent individuals or platforms claiming to offer result printing services or score upgrades, emphasizing that all official communications and result notifications will only come through its verified channels.
In a related development, the examination body issued a stern warning against any attempt to falsify or manipulate the result messages received from the official platform. It stressed that tampering with examination scores is a serious criminal offence that attracts severe penalties, including prosecution and blacklisting. The board reiterated its commitment to the integrity of the examination process, noting that the 2026 UTME, which began on April 16, is still ongoing and is expected to conclude on April 22 at various accredited centres nationwide. Candidates whose results are yet to be released were urged to remain patient as the processing of other batches continues in a systematic manner.
