President Bola Tinubu has appointed the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, as the Director of Fundraising for the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The appointment places Governor Abiodun at the centre of the ruling party’s financial mobilisation strategy as the party commences preparations for the 2027 presidential poll, coordinating the mobilisation of financial resources, logistics, and nationwide campaign support.
The Presidency announced the composition of the campaign council on Saturday, August 22, 2026, designating President Tinubu as the Chairman, while Vice President Kashim Shettima and the National Chairman of the APC, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, will serve as Vice Chairmen. Former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, was named the Director-General of the council.
According to the leadership structure released by the party, Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, will serve as the Secretary of the campaign council, assisted by the APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Bashiru, as Deputy Secretary, and Hadiza Bala-Usman as Assistant Secretary.
The Advisory Team of the council includes former Osun State Governor, Chief Bisi Akande; veteran journalist and politician, Chief Segun Osoba; former Imo State Governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha; former APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu; and Senator Florence Ita Giwa.
The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas; and Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, were appointed Deputy Directors-General for the South and North, alongside the Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, and the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin.
Senator Adams Oshiomhole was appointed Deputy Director-General in charge of Mobilisation, while the Chief of Staff to the President will supervise administration in the same capacity.
Honourable James Abiodun Faleke returns to the campaign structure as the Deputy Director-General for Election Planning, Coordination, and Monitoring, working alongside six zonal directors. The zonal directors include Senator Olushola Adeyeye for the South-West, Dr Ngozi Olejeme for the South-South, Senator Uche Ekwunife for the South-East, Muntaqha Rabe for the North-West, Ahmed Muhammed Ketso for the North-Central, and Senator Sani Danladi for the North-East.
The Legal Directorate of the campaign council will be headed by Dr Muiz Banire, SAN, with Dr Liman Hassan and Babatunde Ogala, SAN, serving as his deputies.
The Media and Strategic Communication Directorate will be coordinated by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, alongside the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga, and Lanre Issa-Onilu. Tunde Rahman, Sunday Dare, Daniel Bwala, and Felix Morka will serve as coordinating deputy directors within the directorate.
Segun Dada was named Director of New Media, with Solomon Arowolo serving as Secretary of the directorate. The council also appointed five spokespersons led by Dele Alake, alongside Alwan Hassan, Ayobami Oyalowo, Kemi Asekun-Shittu, and Adamu Fanda.
President Tinubu charged members of the campaign council to work dedicatedly towards securing victory for the party in 2027. He directed heads of directorates to accommodate and engage party faithful outside the formal council structure to build a unified campaign.
The President maintained that the Federal Government has fulfilled its key promises and positioned the nation on the path of economic progress, urging council members to actively communicate the administration’s achievements, dispel misinformation, and strengthen public confidence ahead of the elections.
The appointments were confirmed in a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on August 22, 2026.
