Ogun disclaims fake N20,000 youth empowerment message

The Ogun State Government has raised the alarm over a fraudulent message circulating on social media platforms claiming that the state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, is offering a N20,000 Youth Empowerment Cash Transfer through an online link. In a disclaimer issued on Wednesday, the government stated unequivocally that the message is false, fraudulent, and the handiwork of unscrupulous elements seeking to swindle unsuspecting members of the public using the name and image of Governor Dapo Abiodun.

The state government completely distanced itself from the online link, warning citizens to be wary of online fraudsters. The official statement noted, "There is no such ₦20,000 cash transfer initiative, and the link being circulated has no connection whatsoever with the Ogun State Government or the Office of the Governor."

Members of the public were strongly advised not to click on the link, submit their personal or banking details, or share the message with others, as doing so could expose them to fraud and identity theft. The Ogun State Government urged residents to disregard the fake message in its entirety and rely only on information released through the official communication channels of the government. Meanwhile, security agencies have been notified to investigate those behind the criminal impersonation and bring them to justice.
