The New Democratic Congress governorship candidate in Kano State, Aminu Gwarzo, has urged all eligible residents who have yet to register with the Independent National Electoral Commission, especially youths and women, to make use of the commission’s new online portal and register from home using their National Identification Number before the July 24 deadline. In a statement issued on Saturday by his spokesperson, Ibrahim Shuaibu, Gwarzo noted that the electoral umpire has launched a self-service registration platform that enables first-time voters to start and complete their registration online via its dedicated portal.
He stressed the importance of voting as a vital way for citizens to express their opinions and influence the country’s democratic future. Gwarzo stated, “This new portal removes the barrier of long queues. Our young people, our mothers and sisters can now register at home using their phones or computers. There is no excuse not to participate.”
The governorship candidate specifically urged youths and women to step forward and register, emphasizing that the Permanent Voter Card remains the primary tool for positive change. He noted, “The PVC is your power. It is the weapon we have to bring about positive change for our families, our communities, and Kano State. I am calling on our youth and women especially, register, collect your PVC, and vote in 2027,”
He further urged all eligible Nigerians who are yet to register to complete their online pre-registration, proceed for biometric capture where necessary, and collect their cards once they are made available by the commission. Gwarzo said, “The future of Kano State and Nigeria depends on informed and responsible citizens,” He added, “Register today, vote peacefully in 2027, and let’s build the Kano we all desire.”
He also appealed to community leaders, religious organizations, youth groups, and civil society organizations to mobilize citizens for mass registration ahead of the 2027 general elections.
