The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested four suspected armed robbers in connection with a case of criminal conspiracy, possession of dangerous weapons, criminal trespass, and robbery at the Corpers’ Lodge located within the Specialist Hospital in Jimeta, Yola. The command's spokesman, Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the development in an official statement issued on Friday, identifying the suspects as 17-year-old Elkana Ishaya of Clarck Quarters, Jimeta; 22-year-old Mubarak Abubakar of Galadima Street, Jimeta; 30-year-old Musa Umar of Samunaka; and 20-year-old Kabiru Tanko of Galadima Street, Jimeta.
Providing details of the criminal operation, Nguroje said, “The incident occurred on 27th June, 2026, at the Corpers’ Lodge situated within Specialist Hospital, Jimeta, where the suspects, armed with dangerous weapons, criminally trespassed into the lodge and robbed about thirty-six (36) corps members of their valuables, including mobile phones. Upon receipt of the report, Police operatives attached to Karewa Area Command immediately commenced investigation, which led to the arrest of the four suspects and recovery of four (4) mobile phones stolen from the victims,”.
According to the police command, a comprehensive investigation is still ongoing to ensure the recovery of the remaining stolen mobile phones and to apprehend other fleeing members of the robbery gang who are currently at large. The statement added that all the suspects would be formally arraigned and charged to court as soon as the ongoing police investigation is fully completed.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, Kabir Hassan, has reassured members of the general public, particularly National Youth Service Corps members serving across the state, of the command’s total commitment to the protection of lives and property. The police chief subsequently urged residents to remain highly vigilant and promptly report any suspicious individuals or movements to the nearest police station for immediate action.
