Ogun State has secured a fresh $250 million investment in its agricultural sector after Pure Dairy Herds, a specialized cattle breeding and milk production company, announced plans to establish one of the largest dairy farms in Nigeria. The firm's representative, Mr. Farouk Gumel, disclosed the development to journalists following a high-level strategic meeting with Governor Dapo Abiodun at the Governor’s Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta. Gumel stated that the organization is partnering with international experts to develop a world-class dairy facility aimed at significantly boosting local milk production and strengthening Nigeria's internal agricultural value chain.
The company has successfully completed the acquisition of land for the project in the Ogun West Senatorial District, clearing the way for the immediate commencement of development activities. Gumel emphasized that the strategic choice of Ogun State was heavily influenced by its investor-friendly economic policies, conducive business environment, and ongoing infrastructure expansion projects, particularly across the Ogun West corridor. He commended the host communities for their warm reception and continuous cooperation, identifying the selected location as ideal for large-scale livestock operations.

The representative further disclosed that preparations are fully underway for the official groundbreaking ceremony of the dairy farm, which is anticipated to take place within the next two to three weeks. While the initial capital injection is pegged at $250 million, the financial commitment is expected to scale upward as the company expands its operations over time. Beyond decreasing the country's heavy reliance on dairy imports, the massive agribusiness project is expected to enhance subnational food security, create numerous job opportunities for local youths, and stimulate sustainable economic activities across the host communities in Ogun West.
