The Katsina State Police Command announced the arrest of 225 suspects linked to various major crimes, including kidnapping, banditry, cattle rustling, and arms trafficking, during the month of May 2026. Disclosing the operational scorecard on Thursday, the command’s spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, stated that the agency has intensified proactive, intelligence-led operations and joint patrols under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Ali Fage to restore public safety across the state.
Among the individuals taken into custody were seven suspected kidnappers, 10 armed robbery suspects, one suspected armed bandit, two suspected informants, and 21 drug peddlers. The arrests also included 10 suspects linked to murder and culpable homicide, 36 individuals apprehended for rape and sodomy, 13 suspected social miscreants, and 130 persons detained for various other offenses. Out of 150 major cases recorded and investigated during the review period, the command has successfully charged 109 cases to court for prosecution.
In addition to the arrests, security forces successfully rescued 17 kidnapped victims, who have since been debriefed, medically examined, and reunited with their respective families. The police also recovered a substantial quantity of exhibits, including 466 suspected rustled animals, 22 motorcycles, three motor vehicles, 20 laptops, two mobile phones, a scanner, and a master key. A wide variety of illicit substances and narcotics were also confiscated, including 170 wraps of suspected Indian hemp, 190 sachets of Diazepam, 141 Exol tablets, 133 Pregabalin tablets, 49 D5 tablets, and five packs of dexamethasone.
The command attributed these operational successes to continuous collaboration, real-time intelligence sharing, and joint maneuvers with sister security agencies. While promising to sustain the pressure against criminal elements across identified flashpoints in the state, the spokesperson expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, and the Katsina State Government, under Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, for their logical and moral backing.
