Ogun Targets Twenty Four Hour Power Begins Consumption Audit

The Ogun State Government has announced plans to conduct a comprehensive power audit to determine the state’s actual electricity consumption and improve supply efficiency. Governor Dapo Abiodun made this known on Wednesday during an unscheduled visit to the 4-megawatt independent gas power plant in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta. According to the governor, the audit will enable the government to track how electricity generated from the plant is distributed while identifying and addressing leakages and energy theft across the system. This move follows the state’s expanded authority to generate, transmit, and distribute electricity, marking a significant step toward achieving the "Ogun Light-up Project."

Inspecting the facility, Abiodun emphasized that reliable power is critical to economic growth and industrialization. He noted that the 4-megawatt plant in Oke-Mosan and the 34-megawatt power plant in Onijanganjangan are designed for future expansion to ensure no community or industrial cluster is left underserved. “What you see here behind me is a gas-fired Independent Power Plant currently generating four megawatts. It doesn't get cleaner than this,” Abiodun said. The governor reiterated his administration's commitment to sustainable development, adding that the ongoing efforts in the power sector will ensure residents and businesses enjoy a stable electricity supply as part of the state's ambition to achieve energy self-sufficiency.
