The All Progressives Grand Alliance has released the screening schedule for aspirants seeking to contest for Senate, House of Representatives, and state Assembly positions ahead of the party’s primary elections. In a statement issued on Sunday in Awka by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Ejimofor Opara, the party disclosed that the screening for federal legislative seats will take place on Monday, May 11, 2026, at the national headquarters in Abuja. For the Anambra State House of Assembly, the exercise is scheduled for Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at the regional office in Awka.
The party noted that the exercise will begin at 10 a.m. on both days and urged all participants to adhere to the designated times and locations. The statement read in part, “This is to notify all APGA aspirants from Anambra State seeking nomination for national and state Assembly positions in the 2026 primary elections that the screening exercise shall hold as follows:” It further specified that the “National Assembly aspirants positions: Senate and House of Representatives will hold on Monday, May 11, 2026 at 10am prompt at the APGA National Headquarters, FCT, Abuja.”
The notice also stated, “While the screening for the Anambra State House of Assembly aspirants will be held at the APGA’s regional office in Awka, on Tuesday, May 12, at 10am.” The party spokesperson emphasized that strict order would be maintained at the venues. According to the statement, “Only members of the screening committee and duly cleared aspirants shall be granted access to the screening venues. All other persons, including supporters, aides, and associates, are strictly advised to stay away from the venues to ensure orderliness.”
Aspirants were instructed to present their credentials for verification during the exercise. The statement clarified that “Aspirants must appear in person with the original certificate of their highest academic qualification for sighting by the Screening Committee. Photocopies will not be accepted in lieu of originals.” Opara also used the opportunity to warn against extortion, stating that the process is entirely free.
The spokesperson added that no aspirant should pay any amount of money to any person or committee under any guise. Any such demands are to be reported to the national secretariat immediately. The party concluded by stating that the screening schedule for aspirants from states outside Anambra would be shared through official channels in due course.
