Abiodun Honored as 'Man of the Year'

 The Nigerian media has spotlighted Ogun State’s economic transformation as Governor Dapo Abiodun was honored with the Man of the Year Award at the 14th Annual Lecture and Award Ceremony of Nigerian News Direct Newspaper.

The event, themed “Achieving Economic Prosperity: The Role of Human Capacity Development, Fiscal Prudence, and Revenue Generation,” was held at the Grand Ballroom, Oriental Hotel, Lagos, on Friday.

Governor Abiodun, represented by his Special Adviser on Media and Communications, Hon. Kayode Akinmade, expressed gratitude for the recognition, describing it as a validation of his administration’s “silent economic revolution.”

“I most sincerely thank Nigerian News Direct Newspaper for the honor. This recognition will serve as an impetus for our government to do more for the people of Ogun State and Nigeria in general,” he said.

The governor commended the newspaper for its commitment to ethical journalism and for monitoring Ogun State’s progress across critical sectors.

“We are happy that a media organization like News Direct is painstakingly monitoring our activities and progress in the state, which is undoubtedly a silent economic revolution. I urge the media to remain a vanguard of ethical journalism and a source of strong illumination in Nigeria’s public space for the ultimate good of the citizenry,” Abiodun added.

The publisher of Nigerian News Direct, Dr. Samuel Ibiyemi, praised Abiodun’s strides in governance, particularly in transforming Ogun State into an investor-friendly destination. According to him, the newspaper’s annual awards are dedicated to celebrating impactful leaders and promoting good governance.

Governor Abiodun highlighted his administration’s key achievements, noting:

“We have constructed over 600 kilometers of roads across the three senatorial districts, established a world-class Agro-Cargo Airport, and significantly increased Ogun State’s Internally Generated Revenue, making it the most viable state in Nigeria in terms of IGR generation.”

He further emphasized Ogun’s improved business climate, which has attracted over 6,000 manufacturing firms across industrial clusters.

“Ogun State is now recognized as the best in terms of Ease of Doing Business and remains the investor destination of choice in Nigeria,” the governor said.
