Two bodies have been recovered from the rubble of a seven-story building that collapsed Sunday morning in Lekki, Lagos.
News Hunter gathered that six people are believed to still be trapped in the rubble.
The Zonal Coordinator South West, National Emergency Management Agency, Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye, made this known to newsmen on Sunday in Lagos.
Farinloye stated that the rescue operations are ongoing at the site, adding that the remaining trapped persons would be rescued.
According to him, the agency responded to a distress call at the above-mentioned location and activated its response plan. Upon arrival at the scene, an uncompleted seven-story building undergoing construction was found to have collapsed.
“Six people are reported to be trapped under the rubble of the collapsed structure. Two bodies have been located and recovered thus far. Operation is ongoing.
"It was not immediately clear the cause of the collapse but emergency workers and security operatives moved to the site to possibly rescue the trapped victims.
News Hunter reports that the Nigerian Police Force, NEMA, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, State Fire Service, and the Lagos State Building Control Agency were at the scene.
