A socio cultural Non-governmental organization, Aviary Association Worldwide in collaboration with United Nations has called on all and sundry to think creatively and collectively
about how to help society recover better.
The group also preached on how to build resilience, and how to transform the society into one that is more equal, more just, equitable, inclusive, sustainable, and healthier.
The association which was led by its president, Babatunde Elegbede, during a press briefing with newsmen in Abeokuta ,noted that peace is a much needed reflection for major actors of any events of conflict to cease-fire and to pause and assess their actions and give time to absorb what life would allow humanity to achieve without the interruption of conflict.
Speaking on behalf of the National president on the theme; "Recovering Better For A Sustainable and Equitable World", Elegbede said it is the responsibility of all to support the laudable intent behind this initiative and wholeheartedly join in the global endeavor.
He noted that to avoid this, recovery policies should be designed to “build back better”.
This means doing more than getting economies and livelihoods quickly back on their feet.
He added that recovery policies also need to trigger investment and behavioral changes that will increase society’s resilience. Central to this approach should be a focus on well-being and inclusiveness.
"The day is dedicated to world peace, and specifically the absence of war and
violence, such as might be occasioned by a temporary ceasefire in a combat zone for humanitarian aid access.
The World Peace Day is a much-needed reflection time for major actors of any events of conflict to cease-fire, and to pause and assess their actions and give time to absorb what life would allow humanity to achieve without the interruption of conflict.
As the planet continues to feel the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, there is renewed awareness of a need to build a more equal, equitable, inclusive, sustainable, and
healthier world if we are to recover from the effects of the pandemic.
Thus as responsible stake holders of the wider society, it is our duty to support the laudable intent behind this initiative and wholeheartedly join in the global endeavor.
The Aviary Association Worldwide being a socio cultural non-governmental and philanthropic organisation saddled with the task of providing humanitarian and charitable services to the needy in the society will continue to work with the International Community to encourage
organisations and individuals to reduce violence in all areas of life such as our homes, workplaces, schools, communities and our environment.
This can only be done by cooperation of like-minded organisations and people around the world. It is a fact that the
dedication to the cause of peace, can lead to inspire and implement change in our societies.
Nigeria like many other parts of the world has felt the social and economic impact of the global pandemic which has led to an increase in poverty levels in the country, this has been further exacerbated by the security challenges the country is currently facing.
It is important to emphasize the fact that as the country recovers from the Covid Pandemic, the principles of fairness, equality and inclusiveness serve as the critical foundations upon which this
recovery is built. For the economic recovery from the COVID-19 crisis to be durable and resilient, a return to ‘business as usual’ and destructive investment patterns and activities
must be avoided. To avoid this, recovery policies should be designed to “build back better”.
He however urges all stakeholders to think creatively and collectively
about how to help society recover better, how to build resilience, and how to transform our
society into one that is more equal, more just.
It is a call on us to deal with habitants of the earth, living or non living, with fairness and impartiality.
Protecting our environment sustainably and justly, would definitely bring about peace in humanity, and of course the preferable recuperation the world needs after the COVID-19 pandemic.
