In commemoration of the 80th birthday celebration of foremost academician, Prof. Afolabi Soyode, his son, Otunba Wale Soyode has donated food items to the Stella Obasanjo Orphanage.
Prof. Soyode's son gave a consignment of food to the orphanage home on Saturday as a way to celebrate the academician at 80.
Wale who took after his father in philanthropic gesture was known for the regular habit of sinking boreholes for poor communities across the country.
Speaking at the food item donation, Otunba Wale who was accompanied by the Ogun State Chairman of the Association of Nigerian Authors, Engineer Paul Oni noted that the celebration of Prof. Soyode's 80th birthday was low keyed because he lost his brother sometimes early this year.
He however said, the food donation was done as part of a way to celebrate the philanthropic attitudes of the Professor.
He also noted that our political representatives should make the welfare of the people paramount in all they do.
Wale stressed that he has devoted his life to helping people like his father does.
He explained that his goal in life is to surpass the philanthropic achievement of his father, Prof. Afolabi Soyode who he said he is a very great man who loves doing good.
Otunba however frowned at why people in political offices to represent the people turnaround to abandon them to suffer.
He added, "this is a remarkable date, it is a date we are celebrating my father’s 80th birthday.
"Prof Afolabi Soyode is a great man and we supposed to be having a great party in his honour, but unfortunately early in the year, we lost one of his younger brothers.
"He is not aware of this one we are doing. This is going to be a surprise to him because he actually left the country so that we will not do anything.
"I am doing this to commemorate this day to do one of the things he loves doing.
"Ordinarily , he would have loved to do this himself. He is a cheerful giver and I am sure he will appreciate it".
